Music every Saturday through early april

Winter is in full swing on the North Shore! End your day of winter adventures and ease into the evening with live music at the winery every Saturday afternoon from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.

This February, we have reached out to some of our favorite local musicians on the North Shore to build the perfect apres adventure lineup. Whether you are here for the fingerstyle guitar and ensemble performance that Gordon Thorne and his friends put on, or the harmonies that can be heard during sets from Tina and Drew or Barbara Jean and Mike Lewis, or the folky-tonk americana performance from Bump, there is something for everyone with these great artists.

Each Sunday of the summer, North Shore Winery hosts great musicians and bands on our outdoor stage and natural amphitheater! Seating is available, but bring your own blanket or camp chair for a spot in the intimate festival field. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Watershed Group is an experimental band borrowing from various genres, including Jazz, Ambient, drone, and Psychedelic music. The group, based in Grand Maris, brings together musicians Adam Kirsch, Will Moore, and Cory Quirk.

Bandleader, Glen Helgeson , has released eight albums throughout his career, won a Minnesota Music Award, and received a Walker Art Center commissioned grant.

“Helgeson is a technically masterful player who fuses exotic rhythms with soulful, intelligent leads.” Tad Simons, MSP St.Paul Magazine .

Jim Chenoweth , a highly regarded bass player from the Twin Cities jazz scene, tours locally and nationally and has performed with numerous local jazz musicians. One of the most requested drummers on the local jazz circuit,

Nathan Norman has Nathan has performed in a variety of musical settings including performances with the Louisville Symphony, Mannheim Steamroller, the Percussion Group Cincinnati, the Minnesota Orchestra, Illusion Theater and various Twin Cities jazz artists. Nathan has been performing and recording as a freelance musician in the Twin Cities area since 1988.

Following their spring residency here, Barbara Jean and Mike Lewis will be continuing a weekly set each Friday from 4:30-6:30.

We are lucky to have local musicians like Barbara Jean and Mike Lewis, they are both talented multi-instrumentalists who have toured with their own local groups and international stars.

Teague is a talented artist familiar to North Shore music fans. This week, his guitar, harmonica, and lyricism are joined by a six-piece band, The Common Thread. Raised in New Jersey, Teague Alexy brought his gritty acoustic guitar work and insightful songwriting to Duluth 25 years ago. In numerous collaborations, he’s dabbled in an array of genres over the years, but his original compositions tend to center around the roots rock category. The versatile Common Thread features Owen Mahon and Tyler Dubla on percussion, Rob Jones on keys, Brian Wells on bass and Jacob Mahon on guitar.

Rooted in tradition, yet driven by improvisation, Barefoot Bluegrass is a jam-inspired bluegrass band that brings together four seasoned musicians with a shared passion for exploring the frontiers of acoustic music. The group is made up of Harrison Olk on banjo, Jon Miller on guitar, Nate Hynum on mandolin and Joe Sheehan on bass. Together they craft a sound that blends the grit of classic bluegrass with the freewheeling energy of a jam band.

Join us for Date Night at the Winery! We are open late on Thursdays, so grab your date and come down to the winery for music from 6-8 p.m.

Gordon Thorne picked up a guitar 30 years ago and hasn’t put it down since. He spent years mining early American blues and jazz, blending them with his own style, and serves up what he calls, “the modern sounds of yesterday–today.” Known as the meanest fingerpicker in Northern Minnesota, Gordon spends his time working, raising kids, and playing a little guitar.
