North Shore Winery

Plein Air Art Demo at the Winery

Date: Sat, Sep 19, 2020
Time 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Join us on Saturdays from 3-6 p.m. as artists show you how they create their art and give you a socially distanced opportunity to view them in action and of course shopping to support them.

This week’s artists are locals, Howard and Bonnie Gay Hedstrom.

Bonnie Gay Hedstrom works in a variety of art media, including needle felt fiber paintings, mixed media and collage, watercolor and acrylic painting, and mosaics. She is originally from Minneapolis and holds a B.S. in Related Art, with a minor in Studio Art from the University of Minnesota. She has been creating art all her life…with some breaks for raising children. She has lived happily in Grand Marais for years and is now enjoying retirement with more time for creating, travel and family.

In 2011 Bonnie Gay, husband Howard and daughter Maeri, had a joint show at the Johnson Heritage Post (JHP) in Grand Marais called “A Family Affair.” Bonnie Gay currently has art at the Betsy Bowen Gallery and the JHP in Grand Marais.

Howard Hedstrom has been around wood and wood-working all his live, having grown up in and near his family’s Sawmill, the now 106-year-old Hedstrom Lumber Co. He has created many wood working projects over the years and now is working on bowl-turning and other projects with wood.
Howard holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. Howard is now enjoying retirement with more time for projects, family, travel, and community service.

Make a reservation to view the Hedstrom’s work at https://www.exploretock.com/northshorewinery or give us a call at (218) 481-9280.
